I just took a
stroll through my closet and I only need one hand to count the number of blue
items hiding out in there; excluding jeans, of course! Interesting. I guess it
might be safe to say that I am not particularly fond of the color blue in
clothing or home goods. However, another side of me loves the blue colors that
come in the form of rocks, gemstones and art glass. Chalcedony, agate, sodalite,
lapis and pietersite…are a few of the gifts we get from ol’ Mom Nature! I am
also drawn to a variety of vintage Czech glass buttons that are blue and gilded with gold
and silver and love working with them whenever I can.

Pantone Fall 2014: Cognac
Cognac…the
name alone lends a bit of mystery to the color, don’t you think? When I think cognac, I conjure up
images of heavily paneled old libraries, a variety of very old and very
expensive patterned rugs tossed here and there covering magnificent solid wood
floors; of course, there is a dog or two or four sleeping in the sunshine
streaming through the floor to ceiling windows. The years have softened all of
the wood, giving it a unique warm patina and the rich tapestries and textiles
in the scene show just a bit of wear. Nice, no?

The Most Wonderful Time

It's true -- it's the most wonderful time of the year. At least for me. Fall -- always marks a time for new things, new beginnings, of sorts. School, new clothes, new friends, new studies, and new adventures. Even that new perm my mom insisted on giving me before the start of every school year couldn't put a damper on my anticipation of the exciting new things coming my way. Although, I do still wonder what in the heck she was thinking, since my hair is naturally curly...so why the need for the Tip Toni totally escapes me. But...back to the wonders of fall and the glorious pre-holiday time.

A Litte Reminder
Nothing like a romp through the leaves on a crisp fall day! What could be better than that? Beatrix with her sissy, Missy. Having fun, full of spirit and just being in the moment. It's a good reminder for us human types not to get too caught up in the zaniness of the holiday season -- we should really enjoy the moments and just have fun. Sounds like a great plan...don't you think?
